Mr Andrew Philpott (2004-07)

Andrew was a Vice-Captain of the School in 2007 and Captain of the First XI Hockey team, which won Trinity the first AGSV Hockey Premiership since 1990, after an undefeated season. With his brother Robbie, Andrew had many years of playing junior hockey at School and at Camberwell Hockey Club.

Andrew represented Victoria in under-age hockey teams and played in the Victorian senior team with fellow OTG James Webster. He gained national selection in 2013, and played against Korea after moving to Perth to join the Kookaburras squad. In 2013 he was a member of the victorious Australian team in the Oceania Cup in New Zealand, while in 2014, Andrew, playing in defence, was a an integral part of the Commonwealth Games Gold Medal-winning team in Glasgow. Andrew has earned 21 caps playing for Australia in his career so far.

Andrew is also a highly capable student, performing well enough in his VCE to gain admission to study medicine at the University of Melbourne. He graduated with Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery, and hopes to be able to become a surgeon and also to play in the Rio Olympics. Andrew is one of the few elite sportsmen who has been able to combine a sporting career with intensive study.
